Mexico
Mexico can be a capital-city culture trip, an archaeology route, a food trip, or a beach break. The best results come when you commit to one style instead of trying to mash them all together.
Mexico at a glance
2026 planning rangesMexico offers tremendous depth for food, archaeology, coast, colonial cities, and city culture. Costs can stay very manageable, but resort corridors and heavy-tour transport can move the budget up fast.
Higher cost: Los Cabos, Riviera Maya resort strips, Tulum, and premium beach properties in peak periods.

Food and daily spending feel
Mexico is one of the easiest countries here to eat very well at multiple budget levels. Street food and mercados can be excellent value, while polished tasting-menu or resort dining shifts the budget sharply upward.
Getting around
For a Mexico itinerary, define whether you are building around one city, a colonial-city loop, a Yucatán route, or a beach resort stay. Domestic flights are often more useful than long overland jumps. Rental cars are helpful in Yucatán and some regional loops, but not necessary in Mexico City.
When to go
November to April is the main sweet spot for many travelers. Summer can be hot, humid, or rainy depending on the region, but also less expensive outside peak domestic holiday windows. Beach and hurricane-season considerations matter on coastal routes.
